Glenoaks park might be my favorite park in all of Glendale. It is the one park my child will request specifically and I am happy to oblige. What makes it such a crowd pleaser? Allow me to tell you.

It has shade, so much glorious shade and while this might seem like a small thing, it is not. When the weather gets hot (and that’s basically all summer), there are some parks that are just unusable because the equipment burns to the touch. At Glenoaks, when one of the structures is in direct sun the other is not, so the parks is always usable even when it gets hot.

Speaking of heat, often during the summer they have a wading pool available. It is such a delight for young children and parents of young children that don’t want to take them to a full pool, but still want their kid to cool off in the water. For me with two young children, the wading pool is a great option. They even have a lifeguard standing there when it’s open.

There is grass and paths that go around the park. So, if you have a child with a bike or scooter they can ride around.

There is technically no sand box but there is a mostly unused sand volleyball court that works in a pinch. There are swings, basketball courts and a community center that is reservable through the city of Glendale. There’s also a little free library that is usually fully stocked with books and easy street parking. If you check it out, let us know what you think!
